The caudal fin can of a Black Moor Goldfish can be broad, ribbon or butterfly. Some Black Moor Goldfishes can change colour when they become elderly, but they are a minority. You can find the Black Moor Goldfish in most aquarium shops and it is not a very tricky goldfish type to keep. It is a very popular goldfish variant and kept by millions of aquarists. It has a beautiful velvety look and telescope eyes. His one eye pokes out and the other side is flat.As the name suggest, the Moor Goldfish only comes in one colour – black. The space where his eye was is black now and the only way you can tell it is missing is when you see him face on. I don't think I can because I am still a fry, but he looks good. Thanks a bunch for being there for me and encouraging me to keep him and not to euthanize him. And Sminifish, if I have trouble with him after I put him back in the tank I will surely ask for your help. He and his brother stay at the top of the tank when they know it is feeding time so when I put in the food they gobble up enough before anyone else even notices I put food in the tank. I don't think I will have any trouble keeping him fed. It's sad because it looks like he is lonely, but I think it is because he can't keep up with everyone else. He and his brother use to swim together all the time. I have two fantails, two commons and his black moor brother in my 55 gallon. I just want to make sure no one picks on him. He and his brother are half the size of everone else. I am worried about waiting two weeks to put him in with his tank mates. I have been keeping his water changed and salted every day and of course checking my levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. He is eating and swimming around just fine so far. Unfortunatley everyone says that after one fish has already been hurt and it is too late for them. You can believe me that it will never happen again. I truly am sorry and very heartbroken because I know it was my fault for putting them together, even for that short of a time. I was sooo upset and g=I am glad that he may make it. I jsut want to make sure that pink doesn't mean infection. How long should I wait before I add him in with his buddies? Will his space where his eye was always be pink or should it turn black like the rest of him when it heals. I wrapped the tank in a dark towell and put a small air stone in with him. He is in a two gallon tank so I would like to get him out of that as soon as I can, but he is only about and inch long (inch and a half maybe two inches with his tail) so he is ok for the moment. I did like you all said and put him in a hospital tank and slowly added the salt. I had a very stressful day at work, came home and had guests for dinner and by the end of it all and from my gimpy being hurt I had such a bad headache. It is 11:20 my time so I will look at this tomorrow and see if someone has posted any more info about maybe an anitbiotic treatment. I guess if he makes it through the night I will need some advice on how to take care of him. But thanks again for your concern and help. I wish we would have waited to purchase them now. The koi were a purchase for a pond that my husband is going to put in this spring (soon) and we saw these three and fell in love with them. I know this sounds silly, but I am upset and I do love my fishies. I do have one very pretty fantail, but I think the others have more character and they have come through some adversity so I admire them. three were going to get fed to other fish so I adopted them when I bought a tank from someone, two are commons that I bought out of the feeder tank at the LFS, one is a fantail that has bent fins (not too bad) from high ammonia levels in a tank and my two baby black moors were pretty rough looking when I bought them and nursed them back to health. Don't get me wrong, I do like pretty fish, but out of the ones I have. I am a softy for the underdogs so I tend to buy or adopt the fish I think no one else would want and would end up getting rid of.
